Grey House School, Hartley Wintney

Art and Design are an important part of the curriculum and a wide variety of work is undertaken using a range of media. Childrens work is entered in local festivals but, above all, the children are encouraged to enjoy their efforts and achievements.

Drama and Spoken English are strong features with the emphasis being placed on involvement by all children. There are musical and dramatic productions at Christmas and in the Summer Term by both the Lower and Upper School.

Poetry speaking examinations with the Poetry Vanguard Society are offered to all children in the Upper School and children in Foms V and VI are entered each year for the English Speaking Board examinations.

Creative arts

Private lessons are also available with children being entered for The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art examinations.

Music is also an important part of the curriculum and there are weekly music lessons when the children have the opportunity to learn composition, notation, improvisation and listening techniques. There is a weekly singing lesson for both the Lower and Upper School.

The School Choir performs to a very high standard and regularly takes part in festivals, competitions and local events as well as performing within school.

Individual tuition is available at extract cost for a range of instruments and there is an annual concert for those who learn instruments at school and a more informal End of Term concert for all pupils who wish to participate.

Ballet classes, which prepare pupils for the Royal Academy of Dancing examinations, are also offered.
