HISTORY OF THE GREY HOUSE SCHOOL

The Grey House School was founded  by the late Miss Cracknell. A small group of  children were taught  in a room above The White Hart public house in Hook until Miss Cracknell moved the school to The Grey House in Hartley Wintney in 1949.

picThe school quickly gained a reputation for academic excellence and continued to grow.

In the 1970's, there were enough children for seven classes, one for each year group and additional buildings were put on the site.

Mrs Purse was appointed as Headmistress in 1975 and remained at the school in this post until 2004.

The school is now run  by Miss Cracknell's grandchildren, in partnership with their father.

Mrs Allen, the current Headmistress has been at the school since 1994, and has been Headmistress since 2004.

It is with great sadness that we announce that the decision has been made to close The Grey House School and Nursery in December 2018. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the school over the 69 years it has been in existence, for their support and hope that your  memories are happpy ones.

All past staff, pupils and parents are invited to join us on the afternoon of Friday 14th December here at school. Tea and cakes will be served from 2.30 -5.30.pm and the school will remain open in the evening for those unable to get here for the afternoon.

The buildings will all be open for you to wander through for a trip down memory lane; I look forward to seeing you here.

We have just raised an amazing £1073 for Children in Need today witrh just 6 boys - we are so proud of them!
