The School Day

 The School Day

The school day starts at 9.00.am, usually with a whole school Assembly.  Children may be in their classrooms from 8.30am. and registration takes place at 8.55.am

Lower School Hours: 9.00am to 3.15pm

  • Mid-morning break: 10.30 to 11.00am
  • Lunch break: 12.00 to 1.00pm
  • Mid-afternoon break: 2.15 to 2.30pm (3 afternoons per week).

Upper School Hours: 9.00am to 3.30pm

  • Mid-morning break: 10.40 to 11.00am
  • Lunch break: 12.30 to 1.30pm
  • Supervised Prep is available until 5.00pm for all Upper School children (no additional charge).
  • After School Care is available for all Lower School children until 5.00.pm (additional charge made).
  • A number of optional extra-curricular activities are offered to both Lower and Upper School pupils (additional charge made, varying according to activity).

Before School Care for all children is available from 8.00am.(additional charge made).

Lunches: Children may have a hot lunch which is prepared and cooked on the premises (£3.10/day), or may bring a packed lunch from home. Lunch arrangements are pre-booked for each term in advance. Menus are published weekly.

Homework: Lower School pupils take home sounds, reading, spellings and tables. Upper School pupils are assigned daily homework as follows with additional private reading time expected:

  • Form III: 20 mins
  • Form IV: 30 mins
  • Form V: 45 mins
  • Form VI: 1 hour

Pupils in Form VI remain at school until 5.00pm Monday to Thursday each week for extra study, in lieu of homework, until completion of their entrance examinations for Senior Schools.

Extra-Curricular: A range of extra-curricular activities is offered during term times, and Activity Weeks are offered in school during holidays for up to four weeks, with additional weeks offered through other school links.

We are registered for a number of voucher schemes which can be used for Activity Weeks. Please email accounts@grey-house.co.uk for further information.

 We will be very pleased to hear from  Early Years practitioners regarding any future vacancies we may have at our Nursery.
