The Grey House School Book Week 2018

We have enjoyed lots of different activities this week including a 'Book Quotes Challenge' which has seen Upper School children rushing around trying first to find the hidden quotes and then identify them.

DEAR (Drop Everything and Read), has again seen children rushing to open their reading books when the bell has been rung;  it was quiet enough to hear a pin drop in the classrooms!

The Book Fayre has been a popular destination and the opportunity to browse through a wide selection of books has been relished. We will be able to 'purchase' books to the value of over £450 thanks to your support. A huge thank you to MrsRaj and Mrs Kent for their help throughout the week.

Children all produced badges encouraging reading as part of a competition. The winners were: Form K Marieta, Form I Mia, Form II Harrison, Form III Charlie, Form IV Isabella, Form V Chloe and From VI Lauren. Form K enjoyed their own pyjama day on Wednesday and the teachers have all visited different classes to share a story.

We are very much looking forward to the results of the 'Reading Challenge' which has seen children reading books in all sorts of interesting places!

Our Assembly on Friday saw so many different characters in school as children spent the day dressed as their favourite book characters. The arrival of the characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, including our very own Oompa Loompas was very well received!

There were five lucky winners of a Grey House School Golden Ticket, found in a lucky bag: Zach, Lavinia, Alex H, James (Form V) and Hugo. Thank you James for donating your book prize to the fund we are supporting, to replenish the Peart's school library in Bolivia which was destroyed in floods earlier this year; we have raised over £100.

There are lots more photos for you to enjoy in our Photo Gallery.

It is with great sadness that we announce that the decision has been made to close The Grey House School and Nursery in December 2018. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the school over the 69 years it has been in existence, for their support and hope that your  memories are happpy ones.

All past staff, pupils and parents are invited to join us on the afternoon of Friday 14th December here at school. Tea and cakes will be served from 2.30 - and the school will remain open in the evening for those unable to get here earlier, with drinks served from

The buildings will all be open for you to wander through for a trip down memory lane and some memorabilia will be available to bid for, with all monies raised going to charity; see the Facebook page for more details.

I look forward to seeing you here.
