Newsletter 12th June 2017

Dear Parents

As always a this time of year, there is a lot of information for you to digest in this newsletter.

Ballet Success

Miss Katy is to be congratulated on getting several of her dancers through to this year’s National Finals.  Amber, Chloe and Lois will all be dancing in London in August.

Sports News

We are sorry we had to postpone Sports Day and I hope that we have a better week of weather leading up to 23rd June when all arrangements remain as for the original date.

Congratulations to Oliver Owen-Thomas, who, in the Southern Regional Championships, was awarded an individual Silver for the Vault and a Bronze for the Parallel Bars.  Basingstoke Gym Club were the first team overall and also received a Silver for the High Bar.

 Hartley Wintney Festival

We had an excellent turn out for the parade and the children looked quite splendid in their costumes and it was lovely to be joined by so many of our Nursery children. Thank you so much to all who walked round and to all who assisted with the costumes but especially to Mrs Loten and Mrs Stelfox for master-minding the event. I think that given this year’s judging system whereby all the parade participants were judged together, to be awarded ‘Runner Up’ is no mean feat!

Enrichment Weeks

Form VI were, as you will have observed, largely absent from school in the week before half term and enjoyed a wide variety of activities culminating in the overnight Bushcraft Camp.  There are photos on the website and in the School Entrance Hall.

Sally Grace Photos

You will shortly receive email with how to view the photo proofs online and how to order.  Please note Imago’s free delivery finishes on 21st June.

Upper School Play

A reminder that the Play is this Friday 16th June at 7 pm, Reddam House. Further details have been given again later on in this Newsletter.

The performance will be ‘ticket only’ and will be priced at £4.50 for adults and £3.00 for children; the cost for ordered tickets will be added to your bill.  The number of tickets will not be restricted and as before it will be free-seating.

Photos + DVD

Bob Porter will be filming the production and an order form for DVD’s is attached; please return by Wednesday 28th for delivery before the end of term.

The weeks ahead

Wednesday 14th June – Moving Up Morning

All children will be spending the morning with their new Form Teachers in their new classrooms; all swimming arrangements etc remain unchanged.  Upper School will then be spending the afternoon and early evening at Reddam House for the first of our rehearsals.  We are due back at school at 6.30 pm.

Stevensons will be in the school Hall and the Nearly New Shop will be open from 1.30.pm.

Please note that I am happy for children to continue to wear existing uniform for the time being but expect everyone to be in the ‘new’ uniform by September 2018.

The following is a reminder of the changes and requirements:

PE kit Lower School: school pale blue polo shirt; pale blue sweatshirt (as current Upper School PE uniform); navy tracksuit trousers

PE kit Upper School: ¾ zip two tone sweatshirt for all, to replace pale blue sweatshirt.

Boys: new style Rugby top; new style rugby/football socks

Lower School Girls: Winter: new tunic style

Upper School Girls: Winter: grey skirt, new style

Summer dress – as per Lower School.  The short sleeved shirt and skirt is no longer available.

We now supply the long-sleeved striped blouses via the Nearly New Uniform Shop.

A reminder that all children joining the Upper School need either a school Navy rucksack (Stevensons) or a Sports Bag (School supplies) and additionally boys need a Boot Bag (School supplies).

Thursday 15th June

Upper school depart for Reddam House at 3.00 pm; please note there will be cones out for the coach so I would ask that Lower School parents do not park in this space.

Friday 16th June

No Choir.  Assembly as usual; no Well Done cards for the Upper School.

Upper School children are expected to be in by 11 am.

3.30 pm End of School for all; No Prep supervision for Upper School.

Upper School Play

The performance of ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’ will take place at Reddam House, RG41 5BG at 7.00 pm.

Please note the children should be dropped off at Reddam House at the grassy area before the main school gates and car park, and should be collected from there at the end of the performance.  Mr Thompson and his son will be there to direct traffic.

Form VI should be at Reddam House at 6 pm, no earlier as we do not have access to the theatre until then, in full costume, wearing light make-up as for the Dress Rehearsal.

The rest of the school should arrive at 6.30 pm. in costumes bringing a reading book/puzzle book or similar and extra drink if required and wearing make-up.

Please ensure you bring inhalers, epipens etc to the performance for your child.  If you have children in Form VI and younger siblings in Form III, IV & V, please keep the younger children with you until 6.30 pm.

There will be squash and biscuits provided for the Upper School children in the interval.

There are no reserved seats in the theatre as all seats allow a good view of the stage but Form VI parents will be invited in first.  The theatre door will not be opened until 6.30 pm.  There will, as usual, be an interval (approx 20 minutes) which will allow you time to return to your parked cars should you wish to do so.  The performance is likely to finish between 9.30 and 10.00.pm.

Please do not consume food and drink in the auditorium; there will be an opportunity for you to return to your cars during the interval.  Thank you.

If there are younger children in the audience; please ensure they do not cause any undue noise or distraction and take them out of the theatre if necessary.

Tickets will be sent home with your child before Friday.

Please note we will be asking for white costumes lent by School to be returned washed next week.
