This is my final Newsletter of the school year which I would be grateful if you could keep and refer to ensure these last days of the year run smoothly- we will of course continue to send ‘The Week Ahead’ but some of the information in this Newsletter may help with planning.
We had perfect weather for this much anticipated event and congratulations to Winchester on their win. It was such an enjoyable afternoon I think you’ll agree. We collected £86 for the Oak Centre for Children & Young People at The Royal Marsden and £25 for the Rotary Club. Our Guest of Honour Martin Williams wrote: ‘I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and came away quite inspired by the energy and fun that all the children displayed as well as the total commitment to giving their all.’
Congratulations to our swimming team who travelled to Winchester last week to take on St Swithun’s.
We had 24 children taking part and we were up against very strong opposition. Our younger swimmers in Forms III and IV rose to the challenge and produced some great swims. Worthy of special praise is Millie S (Form II) who, as a last-minute replacement, did so well in her races.
Our older and more experienced swimmers were well led by Katherine B-S and Daniel W. The performances from the all the squad in the individual events were outstanding. This continued into the relay events where we swam in teams and it is fair to say, we won most of them.
A tense few minutes went by as we waited for the final result and it was pleasing for us to come out on top with 220 points to St Swithun’s 218.
Well done to all who took part.
Head of PE
The Grey House School
Hartley Wintney Festival
This was, as always, a lovely event with our children looking so good in the procession; I thought out costumes and the subject were very relevant and topical. Special thanks to Mrs Lewis, Mrs Berwick, Mrs Loten, Mrs Judge and Mrs Pearce-Molland. Also to Mr Perkins and everyone else who helped.
As we move to uniform with our new logo, if any of you have uniform with the old logo that you would be happy to donate to the Mustard Seed Orphanage in Africa, do please bring in to school in a bag labelled as a ‘donation’. Many thanks in anticipation of your response.
Upper School – Holiday Work
Children in Forms II, III, IV and V will all be given a small amount of work to complete over the holidays, with reading as the focus.
Additionally, I would like to recommend to you, The Book Trust’s bookfinder tool. There are so many books on the market and this is a way of helping you select books over the summer which your child might enjoy. It can be found at www.booktrust.org.uk/books/bookfinder. We have also attached a Brilliant Book List which you may find useful.
Speech & Drama (Upper School) – New Pupils September
Mrs Waite-Roberts will confirm Speech and Drama timings for next year when we have more information regarding children involved in After School Clubs, etc. Please email the school Office if you would like your child to take part in either and have not yet done so. Thank you.

Summer school uniform should be worn with sweatshirts (we will make a decision on the day as to whether these are worn). Shoes should be polished, hair for boys should be neat and tidy and above the collar, in line with our school policy, while for girls, long hair should be tied back using school colours for any hair decorations.
For those of you new to the school, Prizegiving is one of our more formal occasions and dress code is ‘smart casual’ – do ask your child’s Form Teacher or the Form Reps if you would like further clarification or information.
The formal proceedings will start at 10.30 am. Prior to that there will be some informal musical entertainment in the marquee and whilst this is not a performance as such, I know you will be appreciative of the musicians playing. There is considerable talent in our musicians and I would urge you to feel free to leave your seat to gather round the piano area to hear the music.
The crèche will be open in the School Hall from 10 am. Please ensure you have booked your place.
Mr Adam Williams, Headmaster of Lord Wandsworth College will present the prizes.
A reminder please, to park considerately in Mount Pleasant and the surrounding area so that residents are able to enter and exit their driveways freely.
