Ethos

The Grey House Schol Ethos

We want children here at The Grey House to enjoy coming to school and to be able to take full advantage of all that is on offer.  The aim of the school is to provide first-class teaching within a happy, caring environment where children are encouraged to develop lively, enquiring minds and to acquire confidence in all aspects of school life.

The ethos of the school is based on Christian principles and we meet each morning as a whole school for Assembly. We are always pleased to welcome the team from St John's Church who come to take an assembly each term.

There are three Houses: Chichester, Salisbury and Winchester. House points are awarded for academic success, behaviour, manners, helpfulness and for sporting achievements.  Form VI are  House Captains and the announcement of the weekly totals is an eagerly awaited event each Friday.

All the traditional values are important here: hard work, fair play, courtesy and respect for other people and property - all are encouraged and expected. A stable and supportive staff ensure that there is a sense of purpose and order throughout the school and our hope is that each child will go through the school, leaving with a sense of who they are, what they can do and with the knowledge that they are a part of 'The Grey House Family'.

We are also keen to ensure that our children have a wider understanding of the world around them and we support a range of charities both in the UK and abroad. We hold many fund -raising events throughout the year and have supoported 'Help for Hoima' in Uganda over the last few years; the Greh House School is in evidence many miles away!

Announcements

It is with great sadness that we announce that the decision has been made to close The Grey House School and Nursery in December 2018. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the school over the 69 years it has been in existence, for their support and hope that your  memories are happpy ones.

All past staff, pupils and parents are invited to join us on the afternoon of Friday 14th December here at school. Tea and cakes will be served from 2.30 -5.30.pm and the school will remain open in the evening for those unable to get here for the afternoon.

The buildings will all be open for you to wander through for a trip down memory lane; I look forward to seeing you here.
