Dear Parents

Happy New Year to you all; I hope you have all had a lovely break and are ready for the new year ahead.

This is relatively short but very busy term so I will endeavour to keep you informed of all events in goodtime.

Staff

We are delighted to welcome back Mrs Blackman who is Form I’s new Form Teacher. Mrs Pitcher will be working in the Upper School Wednesday-Friday.  We are also pleased that Mrs Ley (who was helping with the cooking last term) will be helping out in Form III.  We would also like to welcome Miss Bacon, who is joining the Nursery full-time.

Mrs Moore will be taking Before School Care in the Hall for the next two weeks.

PE – After School Activities

Details of this term’s After School Activities remain the same as last term.   Following the taster sessions this week, please email the school office if your child wishes to start a new activity.  Please note Midi Fencing for Forms I & II is also available Wednesdays 12.30-1.00 pm starting this week.

Unfortunately, we have just heard our gym club provider has had to withdraw due to sad family circumstances but we are working hard to find a replacement and will let you know of any developments.

Mrs Ley is hoping to start a Craft Club after school on Thursdays and we will email you with details shortly.

Keeping Children Safe

We are as a staff, concerned, as I am sure you are also as parents, about children’s access to the internet and social media issues.

Some of your children may have acquired mobile phones, tablets etc over the holidays and so to this end, I am attaching some of the information we have already sent out.

We have previously asked you if there is a desire for an evening meeting with someone to talk to you about these important issues and would like to offer this again.  Please let us know by return email if you are interested.

Amendments to Spring Term Diary

Please note that the Form VI Victorian Workshop will now be Wednesday 7th February and that Form VI will have the opportunity to watch Sherfield School’s production of Oliver at the Haymarket on 1st February in the afternoon.

Parent Teacher Meetings will start at 6.00 pm for both Lower and Upper School.  These changes are on the website.

Inclement weather

Should we experience extreme weather I would like to remind you that you should check the website in the first instance for announcements to any changes to the school day.

A text will be sent should there be any emergency changes to the day.

Please make sure that your child always has a spare pair of shoes in school (these are usually their indoor trainers) and if wellingtons are worn, they are clearly named along with a school coat, every day.

Carol Service Collection

It now seems a long time ago but your generosity has allowed us to donate £208 to the Oak Centre at Royal Marsden Hospital.

OPEN DAY FOR THE GREY HOUSE SCHOOL -  Reception to Year Six

Tuesday 1st May
9.30.am - 12 noon and 1.30.pm - 3.00.pm.
The Nursery at West Green would also be pleased to welcome you.

Morning Programme of Events:

8.15.-9.00.am -an opportunity to see a swimming lesson at Hart Leisure Centre

9.15. am  onwards - Refreshments available in Hall with the chance to see the Choir perform

9.30.am - Talk by Mrs Allen, Headmistress

9.40.am -11.45.am - Show round school and classrooms

11.45.am Talk by Mrs Allen, Headmistress

Afternoon Programme of Events:

1.15.pm onwards - Refreshments available in Hall with the chance to see the Choir perform at 1.30.pm

1.45.pm- Talk by Mrs Allen, Headmistress

2.00.-3.00.pm Show round school, classrooms and a chance to see PE on the Cricket Green.

Please note there is limited parking on site and that the School is in a residential area. There is some parking available outside the School on Mount Pleasant and a public car park can be found in the village.
